To increase the chances of ranking a new blog in a particular niche, you need to first know where you stand. Here's a detailed post on my recent experience working on a new blog. The client hired me to create content for a new insurance blog targeting the US, Canada and Australia. I have been writing insurance articles before now, so it wasn't a biggie. First, I created the website pages - the About Us, Contact Us, Disclaimer, Privacy Policy pages. These should be in place before you even start uploading any other content. Second, I started researching keywords in the niche. I went for the "low-hanging fruits" - that is keywords with low Keyword Difficulty. I used UberSuggest for this purpose.  The third thing I did was to focus on keywords with up to 1,000 average monthly search volume. Again, I used Ubersuggest for this purpose. I also used SEMRush and Moz.com to confirm the potentials of these keywords. I'm using "BB Naija" for an example (Screenshot 1) My next strategy was to evaluate my competitors to see what they were doing differently. I simply entered the competitor's URL on UberSuggest's Traffic Analyzer section to check Now that I know my competitor's ranking potentials and the keywords to target, I started researching additional keywords or LSIs to use with the main keywords. All I had to do was to click on the main keyword on UberSuggest to see the suggestions. I now made a list of these keywords and put them down on paper. I find it easier to glance at the paper and pick a keyword to use rather than opening my notepad to do that. While writing, I ensured that the main keyword was placed either in the first paragraph or in the first 100 words of the article. It is ideal to add it to the first paragraph, though. I then "sprinkled" the secondary keywords in the article, placing them strategically and ensuring they read as normal statements and not making it obvious that I'm trying to rank a keyword. Another thing I did was to use the primary keyword up to 5 times in the article (of 1,000 words). I also use it in the conclusion. For the best results, ensure that both the primary keyword and the secondary keywords are used at least twice in the subheadings (the H2s). Read this article by OptinMonster for a detailed explanation:  When concluding the article, summarize the main points in the article. If there's a need to make a recommendation for a product or service, do that here too. Finally, don't forget to use Internal Linking in your article. It helps to increase the user engagement and that means a low bounce rate. You can get more ideas about internal linking from this article by SEMRush.  These are just a few tips on how I was able to move my client's new blog with a new domain name from 0 traffic to get up to 12 daily traffic as of today (Screenshot 2).
